Tech 21 SansAmp GT-2:
SansAmp GT2's streamlined design allows you to "architecturally" create your own rig in seconds by choosing amplifier type, modification, and speaker cabinet/mic placement configurations.

We've taken the best parts of the most wanted tube amplifier set-ups and broken them down into individual, user-accessible "components." You can easily mix and match specific sound characteristics in ways that would otherwise be physically improbable, probably impractical, and definitely not cost effective.

Character Switches Include:
MIC: MOD: AMP:
  • Classic = distant miking without ambiance.
  • Center = close miking at the center of a speaker cone.
  • Off-Axis = close miking at the edge of a speaker cone.
  • Clean, which gives you a stock tube amp set-up.
  • Hi Gain, which gives you an extra gain stage, as if you were to install an additional 12AX7 tube in the pre-amp section.
  • Hot-Wired, which gives you a scooped-out midrange for a sizzling, over-the-edge quality.
  • Tweed = Fender®-style
  • British = Marshall®-style
  • California = Mesa Boogie®-style

AUDIO SAMPLES:
1) "California" style
2) "British" style
3) "Tweed" style

REVIEWS & USER COMMENTS:

Maybe you've heard of them, and maybe you haven't, but one thing's for sure: you better not overlook the SansAmp GT2 by Tech21. The SansAmp GT2 is a direct-in or preamp-in tube amplifier emulator. Basically, that means this product helps the user reproduce that warm, natural sound of a tube amp, all while allowing the tonal personality of the instrument to remain unaltered. To go a step further, the GT2 doesn't just emulate a "generic" tube sound, but instead can be adjusted to emulate the tones of some of the worlds greatest tube amps like Fender, Marshall, and Mesa/Boogie. And the best part is that getting these great tones is easy. The Bottom Line is this: for less than $200 you get a quality direct-box-in-a-foot-pedal that emulates some of the finest tube amplifiers in the world. This is a finely crafted unit that's tough, durable and has incredible tonal characteristics.

"The GT2 is the only pedal (next to the DG Stomp) that gets the closest to the feel of a real tube amp. The Boogie setting is extremely close to my old DC-2. I can get a JTM45 and a JCM900 Marshall tone easily on the British setting. I was really impressed with the Tweed setting! The Tweed setting is PERFECT for guitar AND bass. "

"Amazing. The single best amp modeling box out there. I compared it with the Line 6 POD, the Digitech 2120 with speaker simulator, and the Roland VG-8 among others. They did not compare. I use it for what its name implies: recording without mic'ing an amp. The GT2 even gave my mic'ed Boogie a run for its money."
